I tried to wring it out by hand and there was an earwig in the strands. I've hated them since....so imagine my chagrin at finding them in the coop! lol The chickens seem to like them though!

LisaLA Muranohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00827994015402999638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8613339135823962078.post-34624716796688276292019-05-05T01:36:37.905-04:002019-05-05T01:36:37.905-04:00Earwigs have tough immunity to many chemical pesti...Earwigs have tough immunity to many chemical pesticides. Some which appear to have died were found to be alive. Oh well at least they are not toxic. Pinchers also serves to alert them of approaching ants from behind. Had one on my leg from swim towel and got bit when I rolled towel and snapped at it.lol. DE works by scratching the waxy coating of the insects exoskeleton. Once these scratches are in the coating, the insects dry up and die. SO the bug you saw in the DE would have died from it, it just takes a little time. It works slower then something chemical like bug spray but is so much safer.
Hope that helps!

~Lisa LA Muranohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00827994015402999638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8613339135823962078.post-61188701858277315292014-11-23T14:52:24.435-05:002014-11-23T14:52:24.435-05:00I put DE on my carpets. It takes care of the insects and saves you work. I was once bitten by an earwig and so I admit I do still carry a bit of a grudge about them...couldn't believe how much the bite hurt!! :) Thanks for sharing your post!!Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15180825921954547094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8613339135823962078.post-73492040014525904872013-07-07T02:56:42.407-04:002013-07-07T02:56:42.407-04:00I wonder if I have earwigs as well.
